Many new players want a defense to play as black that is fairly easy to learn and play. The Caro Kann is a defense that is quick to learn and has many fans, including former world chess champion, Anatoly Karpov. Here is a video from youtube.com that helps to explain the opening.

Here are the answers to the online chess puzzles numbers 5-7. I hope you found the solutions to all of them!
Chess Puzzle #5. The answer is N-h6. Then after white plays K-h8, black plays B-c3 checkmate. Many people incorrectly see N-e7 check, but this allows the white king to escape.
Chess Puzzle #6. The answer is N-b5 check. The black king is forced to e8. Then N-d6 is checkmate.
Chess Puzzle #7. The answer is R-c8 check. Black is forced to play Nxc8. Then white plays Qxb7 check. Black is forced to play Kxb7. Then B-d5 is mate.

Sometimes, in the case of postal chess, you play against an opponent somewhere else in the world as you make and receive moves by post card. For the last 10-12 years or so, however, a new era has begun when you can play chess against someone in real time, online, anywhere in the world. The advent of online chess has opened the door to playing and improving your game like never before. Online chess allows you to play virtually any level of player, at any time of the day or night.
Because you’re playing people around the world, someone is always awake somewhere and ready to play a game. I have a lot of stories about adventures I’ve had playing chess online, and I’d love to hear yours too.
